Events and Workshops
Check out the projects and workshops we offer below!
These experiences are all about helping you make connections, grow your skills, build your portfolio, and advance your career in advertising.
Speaker Events
Ever wondered what it's like to work at NBCUniversal, TikTok, Taco Bell, or Amazon? We bring in speakers from around the world who have expertise in areas such as copywriting, design, account management, media, and production. These events are your chance to hear real stories, get advice, and ask the questions you've always wanted to ask. Whether you’re curious about creative, strategy, or account leadership, these sessions give you a peek behind the scenes of the advertising world.
Ad Dash
Ad Dash is a full-day creative sprint where you and a team of five to six members take on a real company brief. You’ll brainstorm, strategize, and create a full campaign together. It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and the perfect way to find your strengths, show off your talents, and leave with experience that shines on your resume and in interviews.
Rookie Guru
New here? Rookie Guru is your backstage pass to Ad Society. If you are a Rookie, you will be paired with an experienced member who can share tips, answer questions, and help you navigate everything from events to workshops. This will be your Guru. In our club, gurus are typically upperclassmen who organize coffee dates and quick chats to help you connect and get to know one another more personally. This program is a fun way to make a friend while learning the ropes—and maybe even share a few tricks of your own.
Socials
Ad Society isn’t all resumes and campaigns; we know how to have a good time. Holiday parties, mini get-togethers, game nights, random hangs in someone’s apartment… we love any excuse to chill and connect. The best part? You’ll walk in knowing no one and leave knowing everyone.
Headshot Fundraiser
The most essential tool you'll need as a student looking for jobs and internships is a professional headshot. Often, on your LinkedIn, job postings, portfolio, and even on club socials, your headshot serves as the first way people are introduced to you. If that's the case, it better be a good one! Our Headshot Fundraiser is the perfect opportunity to get a high-quality headshot for all of your professional needs, all while supporting the club.
Resume, Portfolio, and Cover Letter Workshop
Something most college students stress over and put on a pedestal is their resumes. In this workshop, we show you how to make your resume, portfolio, and cover letter stand out and get noticed in job applications. We offer practical tips and insider advice from students who have already done the hard work of figuring out what works and what doesn't. Our seniors and juniors who have been through the famous internship freak-out will help you walk out of the event ready to impress recruiters and confidently show off your skills.
Case Studies and Brand Hot Seat
Dive into real campaigns, like our work with Tru Fru, and see how they build their brand and market to their target audience. Case studies allow us to work with real brands as partners, taking a closer look at their needs and sometimes getting free products (yummy!).
Have you ever seen an ad and thought, 'I could do better'? Brand hot seat is the place where the good, the bad, and the ugly of advertising come to the surface. These discussions are high attention, fast-paced, and a fun way to sharpen your skills while seeing how real advertising works. Open discussion and feedback from your peers is something you will experience almost every day in the world of advertising. It's time to get good at defending your opinion.
